Vote counting is currently underway for by-elections held across five Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha seat. The locations include Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, Puducherry, and Assam.
In Tamil Nadu, counting for the Madurantakam and Dharapuram Assembly seats is being conducted under strict three-tier security. These by-elections are seen as a significant test of popularity for the ruling TVK party, which came to power in May. The opposition AIADMK aims to reclaim seats previously lost to the TVK in the April Assembly elections.
For West Bengal, the results from the Nandigram and Rejinagar Assembly bypolls are anticipated to reflect the state’s political sentiment. This comes after the BJP recently took power, ending a 15-year tenure by the TMC.
Additionally, vote counting is taking place for the Thattanchavady Assembly segment in Puducherry and the Nagaon Lok Sabha constituency in Assam.
