A team from the Central Bureau of Investigations (CBI) has arrived in Mansa to investigate the killing of anti-drug activist Parwinder Singh Jhota. The CBI team reached Mansa after midnight on Tuesday, following the Punjab government’s decision to hand over the investigation.

This development occurred shortly after a visit by Union Home Minister Amit Shah to the victim’s family. The case, involving murder and arms act charges, was initially registered at the Mansa City 2 police station.

The CBI team is expected to collect case records and commence their investigation after completing the necessary legal procedures to formally take charge. The decision to involve the CBI came after persistent demands from the deceased’s father and an action committee seeking justice.

During his visit, Home Minister Amit Shah assured the victim’s family of justice. An action committee member also indicated they would request the CBI to examine the demolition of a medical store and house belonging to the accused, expressing concern that evidence might have been destroyed.
