Denmark has enacted a temporary ban on all civilian drone flights in its airspace, effective from Monday through Friday. This measure precedes a significant European Union defense summit scheduled to take place in Copenhagen on Wednesday and Thursday.
Transport Minister Thomas Danielsen announced the restriction, citing recent unidentified drone sightings near airports in Denmark and several other European countries. These sightings have increased security concerns and led to airport closures and travel disruptions, with officials attributing them to unidentified foreign entities.
The upcoming summit, organized following recent incursions by Russian aircraft into the airspace of Poland, Estonia, and Romania, will focus on strengthening military readiness and reinforcing support for Ukraine. The drone flight prohibition is intended to ensure “extra focus on safety” during the high-level meeting.
