Recent incursions by Russian fighter jets into Estonian airspace, a NATO member, prompted a meeting of the UN Security Council. During the session, European foreign ministers issued strong condemnations regarding Russia’s actions.
The United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary stated that Russian aircraft violating NATO airspace would be confronted, warning of the potential for an armed clash. This position was echoed by Poland’s Foreign Minister. Germany’s Foreign Minister cautioned that Russia “poses serious danger to regional security.”
Ukraine’s Foreign Minister asserted that Russia is “destroying international peace and security” and advocated for a strong, united response from the international community. Estonia’s Foreign Minister also addressed the council, with collective statements criticizing Russia for “reckless” behavior and escalating regional tensions.
