An attack involving a vehicle, gunfire, and arson at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, Michigan, resulted in four fatalities and eight injuries during a Sunday service. Authorities identified Thomas Jacob Sanford, 40, of Burton, Michigan, as the individual who reportedly drove a vehicle into the church, opened fire with an assault-style rifle, and ignited a fire within the building. Mr. Sanford was subsequently shot dead by police in the church car park. According to Grand Blanc Township Police Chief William Renye, two of the victims died from gunshot wounds. The incident occurred while hundreds of people were attending services, and the church sustained extensive fire damage. Police also noted that some churchgoers reportedly sheltered children during the attack.
