The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has levied a ₹1 lakh penalty against its solid waste concessionaire partner, Re Sustainability Limited.
The penalty was imposed following observations of negligence in sanitation work, specifically the agency’s failure to properly remove garbage from designated vulnerable points.
According to a GHMC statement, Khairatabad zonal commissioner Anurag Jayanti identified deficiencies during daily inspections. He noted that solid waste had accumulated over a 200-meter stretch on Alijapur Road near Karwan, an issue the statement linked to potential hygiene concerns and inconvenience for residents.
The GHMC further stated that the penalty was enacted after the agency reportedly did not respond to multiple reminders concerning the sanitation issues.
