NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) conducted a mass cleanliness drive in Neyveli town as part of the Swachhata Hi Seva campaign, commemorating Mahatma Gandhi’s birth anniversary. The event drew participation from NLCIL senior officials, employees, contract workers, stakeholders, and children from local schools. During the drive, pamphlets were distributed to raise awareness regarding the segregation and proper disposal of biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste, alongside promoting a ban on single-use plastics.
Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL, highlighted the Swachhata Mission, initiated in 2017, as a transformative phase for India’s sanitation program. NLCIL has consistently contributed to the “Swachh India” initiative, having received first prize among coal Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) for its campaign efforts in the preceding two years. This cleanliness drive was one component of a wider campaign launched on September 16, which included other activities such as a blood donation camp, a mass tree plantation, training for aspiring youth, and a rural sports meet. NLCIL Directors Samir Swarup and M. Venkatachalam also participated in the initiative.
