Leaders from the INDIA bloc are planning to march towards Rashtrapati Bhavan on Friday, October 9, 2026, after gathering at Parliament House. This demonstration is part of ongoing protests, with senior figures potentially participating.
The group was permitted a peaceful protest at Rajghat on Thursday, October 8, 2026, following previous confrontations with the Delhi Police. The opposition leaders reportedly gathered at Rajghat to advocate for the removal of the Chief Election Commissioner.
Ahead of the planned protest, various organizations, including the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), have alleged that protesters are being detained across the country. The CJP co-convener stated that an organization co-in-charge was detained in Rajasthan, and thousands of volunteers were allegedly detained in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal.
The Students’ Federation of India (SFI) also reported that police have visited activists’ homes and intimidated families to deter them from traveling to Delhi. In Delhi, police have reportedly engaged with students in educational institutions and accommodations, warning them against joining the unsanctioned protest due to potential law and order disruptions. Authorities also announced Section 163 of BNSS in the New Delhi area, urging citizens not to participate.
