Pune Police Apprehend Three Women in Alleged Marijuana Sales

Pune city police have arrested three women from the same family on allegations of involvement in the trade of marijuana. The accused individuals have been identified as Sonabai Ankush Pawar (50), Suvarna Ashok Pawar (25), and Shalan Kantilal Jadhav (45), all residents of the Khulewadi locality within Pune’s Chandan Nagar area.

The arrests occurred after Police Sub Inspector Nitin Rathod of the Vimantal police station received information on Thursday concerning women selling marijuana in Kalewadi. Following this intelligence, a police team, acting under the direction of Senior Police Inspector Govind Jadhav, established a trap and apprehended the three women in Khulewadi.

A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged against the accused at Vimantal police station under sections of the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police Sub Inspector Chetan Bhosale, the investigation officer, confirmed that a court has remanded the three women to police custody until September 29 for further investigation. Authorities suspect that other drug peddlers may have enticed the women into the illicit trade, and an ongoing probe aims to identify the individuals who supplied the marijuana to the accused.
