The Punjab Police has conducted an investigation over the past two months into the theft of 5G telecom equipment from Bharti Airtel Limited towers across Punjab. This extensive probe, led by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under DIG Rajpal Sandhu and formed on the orders of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav, has led to the arrest of 61 individuals and the registration of 95 First Information Reports (FIRs). Authorities reported that these actions have prevented widespread disruption of essential telecom services. The investigation, which utilized a combination of technical surveillance and human intelligence after a pattern of thefts was identified, is ongoing. Further inquiries are being conducted to fully uncover the network involved and to determine any potential insider participation, with additional arrests expected.
