A social media influencer with over 1.4 million followers was discovered deceased in his Chennai residence on Tuesday night. Police are investigating the incident as a suspected suicide.
The influencer, known for sharing financial advice on platforms like Instagram and YouTube, had reportedly been offering guidance on investments for approximately five years. Police stated that he may have died by suicide due to being targeted for providing financial advice without the necessary license from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
In a recent video, the influencer expressed distress over a complaint filed against him with SEBI, alleging cyberbullying and threats to his family. He claimed to have been mentally harassed, with individuals allegedly unhappy about his online growth.
The victim’s body was recovered from his home and has been sent for an autopsy. The incident has prompted condolences from other social media influencers, while a case has yet to be registered by local police.
