Tips Music, a major Indian music label co-founded by brothers Kumar and Ramesh Taurani, has identified its three most expensive album acquisitions. According to Kumar Taurani, these albums were Yaadein, Taal, and Pardes.
A notable common link among these three high-value acquisitions is veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai. Taurani stated that successful collaborations are built on mutual respect and continuity, describing Ghai as a “sweet killer.” He observed that films with directors or producers with whom their “kundali matches” tend to perform well, both in terms of film and music success.
Taurani also highlighted the importance of continuity in partnerships, noting that when this continuity has been broken, films have not performed as well. He mentioned that approximately 80% to 90% of films acquired by Tips Music received a good opening due to their promotional strategies. He further suggested that a good “taalmel” or harmony between the music label and the producer is crucial for success.
