Overnight Russian missile and drone attacks have left at least 600,000 people in Ukraine without electricity, according to President Volodymyr Zelensky. He stated that critical energy infrastructure was targeted in Kyiv, the surrounding region, and the city of Kharkiv.
Officials reported that three individuals died in Kyiv. Russia stated that its strikes targeted military communications and energy facilities. This comes despite a claim by US President Donald Trump regarding an energy ceasefire between the two nations.
Separately, speed restrictions on the Starlink communications network have reportedly disrupted Ukrainian battlefield operations, according to an adviser to President Zelensky. Serhiy Beskrestnov, the adviser, said that SpaceX had imposed speed limits on Starlink terminals, which he believes are linked to the current political situation.
Beskrestnov noted that Ukrainian troops were not informed of these speed limits, which were set at 100mph. He also emphasized Starlink’s effectiveness in helping intercept Russian drones.
