Kolkata experienced substantial rainfall overnight, resulting in extensive waterlogging across both its northern and southern sectors. The precipitation led to water entry into numerous houses and residential complexes, and power supply interruptions were reported in various localities.
Rainfall measurements included 280 mm in Kalighat, 275 mm in Topsia, 264 mm in Ballygunge, and 195 mm in Thantania, North Kolkata. The incessant rain also contributed to the inundation of several Durga Puja pandals. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued a forecast for continued heavy rainfall for the day.
