Competing in her religious habit and barefoot, Sister Sabina, who previously participated in national and university-level athletics as a teenager and college student, achieved this victory years after her last competitive race. Currently a physical education teacher, this event represented her final competitive appearance before her scheduled retirement from teaching. Kerala’s Education Minister V. Sivankutty acknowledged her achievement, stating it demonstrated willpower and highlighted that age or circumstances are not impediments to achieving goals.
