Tyler Robinson has been charged with aggravated murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Charlie Kirk, with prosecutors stating their intent to seek the death penalty. Charging documents allege Robinson confessed to a roommate through a series of messages following the incident, also instructing the roommate to delete their conversation and not communicate with police. According to authorities, Robinson’s mother reported that her son had accused Kirk of spreading hate, a sentiment Robinson reportedly reiterated when asked about his motive, stating Kirk “spreads too much hate.” Furthermore, DNA “consistent with” Robinson was reportedly found on the trigger of the bolt-action rifle believed to have been used in the shooting. Robinson is also alleged to have hidden the weapon and discarded clothing afterward. Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray held a press conference to explain the charges and next steps, emphasizing the goal of ensuring a fair and impartial trial.
