Anantapur police have apprehended two individuals, P. Jashwanth and Kambadur Bhogam Raju, in connection with an alleged interstate operation involving chain snatching and the production and circulation of counterfeit currency.

Authorities, including Putluru and CCS police, arrested the duo on Friday. During the arrests, officials reportedly seized gold ornaments weighing 304 grams, valued at approximately ₹35 lakh, along with ₹35,500 in cash, counterfeit ₹500 notes, a printer, and two motorcycles.

According to a press conference addressed by the Superintendent of Police, investigations indicate the accused committed 12 chain snatchings over the past two years across various locations including Anantapur, Putluru, Narpala, Uravakonda, Tadipatri, and Simhadripuram mandal in Kadapa district. Police have reportedly recovered all stolen property related to these cases. The Superintendent of Police stated that the individuals became indebted due to activities such as cricket betting and gambling, leading them to engage in chain snatching and counterfeiting to finance these habits.

One of the arrested, P. Jashwanth, is identified as a repeat offender with previous cases in both Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, involving vehicle theft, burglaries, robberies, and chain snatching.
