The Badaun District Cooperative Bank has issued a recovery notice to Maulana Tauqeer Raza Khan regarding an agricultural loan initially taken over 35 years ago. Bank chairman Jitendra Kumar Saxena stated that the original Rs 5,055 loan, obtained on October 29, 1990, has accrued interest, bringing the total outstanding amount to Rs 28,346 as of October 8, 2025. The notice was posted at Khan’s residence in Bareilly and is also being sent to him at Fatehgarh Jail, where he is currently incarcerated. Khan, 65, has been accused by Bareilly police of alleged involvement in recent local violence that followed Friday prayers last month. Superintendent of Police Manush Pareek indicated that investigations into other pending cases against Khan are expected to be expedited.
