The Belgian national security council has convened a meeting to address recent drone sightings. These incidents reportedly caused operational disruptions at Brussels airport and involved drones flying over military bases within the country. A source, cited by the Belga news agency and subsequently reported by Le Soir, indicated that security services hold "little doubt" that a state actor, "very probably Russia," is responsible. In response to the situation, Belgium's Defence Minister Theo Francken communicated with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte. A NATO spokesperson confirmed that "Allies are providing welcome support" to address the challenge. Following the security council discussions, Prime Minister Bart de Wever is scheduled to meet with King Philippe concerning the ongoing national budget crisis.
