The 73-kilometer Bengaluru Business Corridor (BBC), formerly known as the Peripheral Ring Road (PRR), is advancing, with officials indicating that civil work tenders valued at approximately ₹7,000 crore are expected to be invited by March 2026.
This infrastructure project, managed by the special purpose vehicle Bengaluru Business Corridor Limited (BBCL), is designed to establish an access-controlled eight-lane road, complemented by four-lane service roads, aiming to mitigate urban congestion. The corridor is planned to connect key highways, including Tumakuru Road, Ballari Road, Old Madras Road, and Hosur Road.
The construction will be divided into three distinct packages, each estimated at ₹2,500 crore. Land acquisition for Phase 1 is reported to be nearing completion, with the invitation for tenders contingent upon the acquisition of approximately 80% of the necessary land. Following the tender process, which is projected to take about three months to finalize contractors, the selected agencies will be allocated 30 months from the date of land possession to complete their respective construction segments. An additional 500 acres of land is also required for the development of interchanges and cloverleaf junctions.
