Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually launched the Mukhyamantri Mahila Rojgar Yojana in Bihar, an initiative of the state’s NDA government. This Rs 7,500-crore program disbursed Rs 10,000 each to approximately 75 lakh women across the state.
The scheme’s stated objective is to promote women’s empowerment through self-employment and livelihood opportunities. Financial assistance is intended for one woman per family, supporting activities such as agriculture, animal husbandry, handicrafts, tailoring, and other small-scale enterprises. The initiative also includes provisions for training by community resource persons and the development of Gramin haat bazaars to facilitate product sales. The launch of the scheme occurs in the period preceding the upcoming assembly polls in the state.
