The Election Commission of India addressed the discovery of a significant number of VVPAT slips found by a roadside in Samastipur district, Bihar. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar clarified that these slips originated from mock polls conducted prior to the commencement of actual voting, assuring the public that the integrity of the polling process remains uncompromised.
Following the incident, which gained attention after a video circulated on social media, an assistant returning officer was suspended for the procedural lapse. Additionally, the District Magistrate of Samastipur was directed to conduct a thorough inquiry into the matter.
