K. Annamalai, former State president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), recently called on the Chief Election Commissioner to address alleged confusions within the online platform for the ongoing special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Speaking in Coimbatore, Annamalai noted specific issues with the online form and encouraged the public to utilize booth-level agents for assistance, reporting that an estimated 5 crore out of 6.5 crore voters in the State had received the necessary forms.
Additionally, Annamalai commented on agricultural challenges in Tamil Nadu. He stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to engage with agriculture scientists, young farmers, and those practicing natural farming during an upcoming visit to Coimbatore on November 19. Annamalai alleged a lack of focus on agriculture by the Tamil Nadu government, specifically criticizing district joint directors. He proposed an 80% to 90% subsidy for farmers to purchase cattle as a means to increase soil carbon content.
Finally, Annamalai touched upon crime in the State, asserting that both the government and police, along with the public, share responsibility.
