The Chandigarh Police has filed a chargesheet in the district court against Panjab University professor Bharat Bhushan Goyal in connection with the alleged murder of his wife, Seema Goyal. Seema Goyal was found deceased at their residence on the Panjab University campus in November 2021. Professor Goyal was arrested in December 2025, four years after the incident, following various forensic psychological assessments conducted by the police.
The investigation began with the discovery of Seema Goyal’s body on November 4, 2021. Her brother subsequently expressed suspicions regarding Professor Goyal's involvement. In December 2021, the police sought court permission for a narco analysis test on Professor Goyal, but he was deemed medically unfit to undergo it due to asthmatic symptoms. Over the four-year period, police conducted further assessments, including brain mapping and a BEOS test in July 2025, leading to his arrest.
