Chief of Defence Staff Details Operation Sindoor's Initial Strike Timing

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan has provided details regarding the initial strike of Operation Sindoor, a joint Indian military action.

Speaking in Ranchi, Jharkhand, on Thursday, September 18, CDS Chauhan stated that the operation’s first strike was conducted at 1 a.m. on May 7. He indicated that this specific timing was chosen with the objective of avoiding civilian casualties.

Operation Sindoor reportedly targeted nine locations identified as “terror beds” across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The military action was described as a response to earlier terrorist attacks that occurred in Pahalgam on April 22.

During an interaction with students, General Chauhan further noted that carrying out precision strikes on long-distance targets at night necessitated “special efforts.”
