The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD)’s Education Committee has announced an upcoming outreach program designed to increase student enrollment in its schools. This initiative follows a recent marginal decline in student numbers.

According to Education Committee Chairperson Yogesh Verma, the MCD’s schools currently serve approximately 6.5 lakh students, and the committee’s objective is to raise this figure by at least one lakh. The strategy involves two teachers from each school visiting various clusters and neighborhoods every Saturday. Their purpose will be to encourage parents and families to consider enrolling their children.

Officials have stated that these teachers will highlight the advantages offered by MCD-run schools, including free meals, uniforms, and stationery. To further motivate staff participation, the corporation plans to establish a ‘Nigam Award’, which will recognize teachers who are successful in attracting a higher number of new students.
