The Delhi-National Capital Region (NCR) has registered elevated air quality index (AQI) levels, with multiple locations experiencing 'severe' conditions. Data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) indicates that the 24-hour average AQI on Sunday was 386, classifying it as 'very poor', consistent with the previous day's reading.
Specific areas reporting 'severe' AQI (401-500) included Noida at 435, Greater Noida at 452, Ghaziabad at 448, and parts of Delhi such as Wazirpur and Anand Vihar. Gurugram recorded an AQI of 377, placing it in the 'very poor' category.
Analysis performed by the Decision Support System (DSS) from the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), Pune, identified contributing factors to Delhi's air pollution. On Saturday, vehicular emissions accounted for the largest share at 18.3%. Stubble burning was reported to contribute 16.3% of pollutants on Saturday, with a projected contribution of 14.5% for Sunday.
