A 22-year-old individual, identified by police as Aftab Alam alias Atti, was arrested in Delhi’s Narela Industrial Area following an exchange of gunfire with a police team. According to authorities, the suspect sustained an injury to his right leg during the confrontation and was subsequently hospitalized for treatment.
Police reported that their Special Staff team received specific information on Thursday night regarding Alam’s presence in the area, allegedly possessing a firearm and riding a black scooter. A trap was reportedly set, leading to the suspect opening fire at officers. Police retaliated, resulting in Alam’s injury and apprehension.
Authorities stated that Alam is facing over nine criminal cases, including snatching, robbery, and murder. Police also claimed that the individual would mock victims after committing snatching crimes and that he allegedly led a gang involved in territorial disputes with other criminal groups. The scooter recovered at the scene is undergoing verification to ascertain if it is stolen. Upon discharge from the hospital, Alam is expected to be taken into police custody for further questioning.
