Election Commission Addresses Supreme Court on Bihar Voter List Revision Challenge

The Election Commission (EC) has informed the Supreme Court that it has not received any complaints from voters within Bihar concerning the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the state’s electoral rolls. The EC stated that concerns regarding the SIR have been raised primarily by petitioners located in Delhi.

A Supreme Court bench, consisting of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymala Bagchi, is currently hearing petitions challenging the SIR. During the proceedings, one petitioner, Bhushan, presented a list of 65 individuals prepared to file affidavits and alleged a disproportionate deduction of names belonging to Muslim individuals and women from the final voter list.

The Election Commission confirmed to the court that the final electoral list has already been formally notified.
