England claimed their third Women’s Rugby World Cup title by defeating Canada in the final match, held before a record women’s rugby crowd of 81,885 at Twickenham. This victory marks England’s first World Cup win since 2014, when they also overcame Canada, and follows their losses in the previous two finals.

The match saw Canada open the scoring with a try from Asia Hogan-Rochester. England responded with a solo try by Ellie Kildunne, followed by scores from Amy Cokayne and Alex Matthews, establishing an advantage. Canada kept pace with a penalty kick from Sophie de Goede.

In the second half, England extended their lead with a try from Abbie Ward, before Hogan-Rochester scored her second try for Canada. The winning side solidified their victory with a second try from Alex Matthews.

Canada, the world’s number two ranked side, had reached the final after defeating New Zealand in the semi-finals and was nearing the completion of a fundraising goal titled ‘Mission: Win Rugby World Cup’, established to support their competition against more financially endowed teams.
