At least 14 people died when a small rubber boat carrying migrants sank off the coast of Turkey’s Mugla province early Friday, according to the local governor’s office.
Emergency services were alerted shortly after 1 a.m. by an Afghan man who swam ashore after the incident. He reported that 18 individuals had embarked on the vessel before it began taking on water. A second survivor was later located after managing to reach Celebi Island near Bodrum, bringing the total number of rescued individuals to two.
