The Government of India has approved an allocation of 328 additional electric buses for Chandigarh under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme. This latest approval brings the total number of electric buses sanctioned for the city to 428. Gulab Chand Kataria, the Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh, stated that this development is a result of the Chandigarh Administration's efforts and engagement with the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The initiative aims to support the city's transition to electric mobility, aligning with its objective to become a carbon-free city and reduce environmental pollution. Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, was reported to have responded positively to Chandigarh's additional demand under the scheme.
