Police in Guntur district recently arrested 11 individuals and seized a total of 4.4 kilograms of ganja across two distinct operations conducted under the Nagarampalem police station limits on a recent Saturday. District Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal disclosed these details at a media conference. In the first incident on January 9, six suspects, including Meduri Hema Sai Chand, were apprehended near Ankammanagar, with 1.2 kg of ganja recovered. Authorities reported that this group was allegedly selling ganja, sourced from Odisha, to fund legal expenses for a previously remanded supplier. The second operation, occurring later the same night, led to the arrest of five individuals, including Paleti Salman Raju, near a temple on VIP Road, where 3.2 kg of ganja was confiscated. These individuals had reportedly pooled resources to procure the substance from Araku and were intercepted while distributing it. Superintendent Jindal also highlighted broader enforcement efforts, noting that over the preceding three months, district police had registered 46 Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) cases, resulting in 217 arrests and the seizure of 78 kg of various illicit substances, including ganja, liquid ganja, and MDMA.
