The Hassan Deputy Commissioner, K.S. Lathakumari, has suspended two hostel wardens who were on deputation as cleaning supervisors at the Hasanamba Temple premises. The suspensions, issued on Friday, October 10, 2025, followed charges of dereliction of duty. The wardens, Anand and Ramesh, are reported to have misused their official identity cards by providing them to private individuals for unauthorized temple access. This action, occurring during the Hasanamba Temple festival which began on October 9, constitutes a reported violation of the Karnataka Civil Services (Conduct) Rules regarding the use of official IDs. Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda commented on the incident, describing it as “unbecoming of government employees” and “against the public interest,” though he characterized it as an isolated event amidst overall positive performance by other government staff.
