The cyber crime wing of the Hyderabad police concluded a month-long operation, resulting in the arrest of 61 individuals across 14 Indian states. This extensive effort also facilitated the refund of ₹1,01,39,338 to victims of various cyber frauds.
Investigations revealed that trading frauds led to 13 arrests, followed by 12 for investment frauds and 11 for social media-related offenses. Other significant categories included 8 arrests for insurance fraud, 3 for digital arrest scams, and 3 for unauthorized transactions. Geographical data showed 8 arrests in West Bengal, 7 in Andhra Pradesh, and 2 in Uttar Pradesh, among others.
Of the total amount refunded, investment frauds accounted for the largest share, with ₹52.13 lakh returned to victims. Trading frauds saw ₹16.23 lakh in refunds, loan frauds ₹15.79 lakh, and OTP-related frauds ₹8.86 lakh. Refunds were also processed for job, gaming, business, and digital arrest scams.
The Hyderabad City Police subsequently advised the public to exercise vigilance against fraudulent social media investment schemes, suspicious messages, and unsolicited digital communications purportedly from officials.
