The Department of Drugs Control in Tamil Nadu has implemented a ban on the sale of Coldrif cough syrup throughout the state. This regulatory action follows reports concerning child fatalities in other Indian states, which have been linked to the consumption of the medicine.
Reports indicate that nine children in Chhindwara, Madhya Pradesh, died from kidney failure, allegedly after consuming the syrup. Furthermore, three child deaths were recorded in Rajasthan, with two occurring in Sikar and one in Bharatpur, also reportedly associated with the product.
