A delegation from the Kalyana Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KKCCI) has submitted a series of proposals to Central Railway authorities, advocating for enhanced rail services and infrastructure development within the Kalyana Karnataka region.
The service proposals included the extension of the Mumbai-Solapur Vande Bharat Express up to Kalaburagi, revision of timings for the Kalaburagi-Bengaluru Vande Bharat Express for passenger convenience, and relocation of its primary maintenance to Kalaburagi in alignment with Railway Board orders. The KKCCI also suggested routing the proposed Mumbai-Bengaluru High-Speed or Semi-High-Speed train via Solapur-Kalaburagi-Wadi-Bengaluru, citing advantages in infrastructure and route length. Further proposals sought the introduction of a new daily Kalaburagi-Bengaluru-Mysuru Express, additional MEMU and commuter train services on the Solapur-Kalaburagi-Wadi-Raichur and Solapur-Kalaburagi-Hyderabad corridors, and the restoration or extension of several pre-COVID-19 train services, including the Solapur–Guntakal DEMU and the Kalaburagi-Hyderabad Intercity Express. Additionally, new stoppages were requested for long-distance trains such as the LTT-Secunderabad Duronto Express, Solapur-Tirupati Express, LTT-Visakhapatnam Express, and Konark Express at Kalaburagi, Shahabad, and Ganagapur Road stations.
Regarding infrastructure enhancements, the chamber urged the expansion of pit lines at Kalaburagi station, construction of an island terminal platform for short-distance trains at Kalaburagi, and accelerated implementation of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme at Kalaburagi, Shahabad, Wadi, and Ganagapur Road stations.
