Karnataka Government Finalizes 369 Wards for Bengaluru's New City Corporations

The Karnataka government has officially notified the ward delimitation for Bengaluru's five newly established city corporations, marking a significant administrative restructuring of urban governance under the Greater Bengaluru Governance Act, 2024.

The final notification establishes 369 wards across the North, South, East, West, and Central Bengaluru City Corporations, a slight increase from the initial draft proposal of 368, with an additional ward allocated to the Bengaluru West City Corporation.

This development follows the formation of a Delimitation Commission on September 2, 2025, which was tasked with redrawing boundaries after the erstwhile Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike ceased to exist. The commission submitted its draft on September 30, 2025, invited public objections until October 15, 2025, and provided its final report to the government on November 10, 2025. Criteria for ward creation included remaining within a single Assembly constituency, maintaining contiguity, and balancing population and community interests.
