A stampede at a TVK meeting in Karur on Sunday, September 28, 2025, resulted in 39 confirmed fatalities and left one individual in critical condition. In response to the incident, Nainar Nagenthran, president of the Tamil Nadu BJP unit, called for an immediate inquiry to be conducted by a sitting bench of the Supreme Court. Speaking to journalists in Karur, Nagenthran emphasized the necessity of a thorough probe, stating that no immediate blame should be attributed. He also conveyed condolences to the families of the victims. Mr. Nagenthran, accompanied by senior party leaders Tamilisai Soundararjan and Pon. Radhakrishnan, visited the injured at Karur Government Medical College Hospital and paid respects to the deceased.
