Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday (March 26, 2026) accused the Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi of contributing to the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) acquisition of power in several states. Responding to a Congress leader's statement regarding central agencies sparing him from interrogation, Mr. Vijayan asserted that Mr. Gandhi lacked proper perspective and understanding of various issues, and that the Congress had undermined the opposition alliance against the BJP.

Mr. Vijayan specifically alleged that the Congress had supported the BJP's "ulterior moves" in what he termed a "false case" against the former Delhi Chief Minister, claiming this assistance facilitated the BJP's return to power in Delhi. He further characterized the Congress and Mr. Gandhi as the "B team of the BJP," and attributed the BJP's rise in Rajasthan to Congress's actions, stating it was a state where the BJP was otherwise unlikely to return to power.

Additionally, Mr. Vijayan claimed that the Congress created instability within the opposition alliance in Bihar, which he said simplified the BJP's path to power. The Chief Minister also alleged that in Kerala, the Congress had formed agreements with the BJP to contest the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and had jointly fielded candidates with the BJP-RSS combine against CPI(M) leaders, including E.M.S.
