Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed strong criticism regarding the Union government's foreign policy positions, specifically its handling of U.S.-Israel actions concerning Iran and Israel's military operations in Gaza. Mr. Vijayan characterized the Centre's stance as an "extremely humiliating submission" before "imperial powers" and condemned its perceived silence on these issues, arguing that it compromises India's independent foreign policy.

The Chief Minister underscored the historical friendly relationship between India and Iran, asserting that the government's current posture has caused a sense of "humiliation" among the Indian populace. He also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for what he described as a supportive stance towards Israel, referencing the Prime Minister's embrace of his Israeli counterpart during ongoing conflicts, which, in Vijayan's view, signals India's alignment with Israel to the global community.

Mr. Vijayan contrasted the present situation with India's post-independence foreign policy, which he described as a strong anti-imperialist position that garnered international respect. He concluded by stating that this historical stance has "gradually changed," leading to a position he perceives as "fully supporting Israel."
