The Kannur Judicial First Class Magistrate Court on Tuesday rejected the bail application of Kerala Students Union (KSU) activists. The activists had been remanded in connection with an alleged incident involving Health Minister Veena George during a protest at the Kannur railway station on February 25.

During the proceedings, the defence contended that the event was solely a black flag protest and did not amount to attempted murder, arguing the charge was exaggerated and lacked evidence of any weapon. In opposition, the prosecution requested continued custody, asserting the necessity for further examination of CCTV footage, investigation into additional involved persons, and custodial interrogation. The prosecution also claimed a small weapon might have been utilized and that pressure had been applied to the Minister's neck during the protest.

The court denied bail, concurring with the prosecution's argument that further investigation and custody were required. The accused are slated to be produced before the court again on March 5.
