In Belagavi on Sunday, Satish Jarkiholi, a Minister and working president of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), conveyed confidence regarding the party's performance in the upcoming bypolls for the Davangere and Bagalkot constituencies. He asserted that these areas are strongholds for the Congress and expressed belief in securing comfortable victories.
Jarkiholi indicated that the primary factor in candidate selection for these seats is the probability of winning. He acknowledged the prevalence of family politics across various parties and states but emphasized the necessity of choosing candidates with the highest chances of success. Regarding the Bagalkot candidate, Umesh Meti, Jarkiholi stated the selection was based on public sentiment and local respect for the Meti family.
He also mentioned that senior leaders would address any internal dissatisfaction among party members and confirmed that the Congress has been preparing for the by-elections for two months. Jarkiholi concluded by stating he would campaign in both constituencies, dedicating more time to Bagalkot.
