Former India chairman of selectors Krishnamachari Srikkanth has voiced criticism regarding the national team’s recent squad selections, specifically addressing the inclusion of pace bowler Harshit Rana for the upcoming ODI tour of Australia. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Srikkanth questioned the decision to select Rana, who debuted across formats within four months since November 2024, as one of four specialist pacers for the three-match series.
Srikkanth also raised concerns about the omission of Sanju Samson from the back-up wicket-keeper’s spot, suggesting that current selection policies are creating insecurity among players. He highlighted Rana’s performance in the recent Asia Cup, where the bowler conceded 79 runs for two wickets in two matches. Rana’s international career includes a Test debut during India’s Border-Gavaskar Trophy tour to Australia, an ODI debut against England, and participation in the ODI Champions Trophy squad in the United Arab Emirates.
