The Madras High Court has directed the inclusion of a retired Dean from Kilpauk Medical College Hospital in the forensic team tasked with conducting the post-mortem examination of Nagendran. Nagendran, identified as the prime accused in the murder of Bahujan Samaj Party leader K. Sathish Kumar, died on Thursday (October 9) at Government Stanley Hospital in Chennai. This judicial order was issued in response to an urgent petition filed by Nagendran’s wife, who accused police of not admitting her husband to a private hospital despite his critical health condition.
Court documents indicate Nagendran had multiple health complications and was an in-patient at the Christian Medical College Hospital in Vellore from January 30, 2025, to April 22, 2025, continuing as an outpatient thereafter. On August 13, 2025, Justice Lakshminarayanan had previously ordered prison officials to transfer Nagendran to a private hospital in Chromepet, as requested by his wife, due to a stated requirement for a living donor liver transplantation. However, the private hospital reportedly cited difficulties in admission, as doctors who had previously treated Nagendran were no longer affiliated with their facility, leading to his subsequent treatment at Stanley Hospital.
