Medical professionals recently staged a protest outside Nair Hospital in Mumbai, initiating a statewide agitation organized by the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and supported by other medical bodies, including the Maharashtra State Association of Gazetted Medical Officers (Magmo).

The protests and subsequent agitation articulate demands for immediate safety reforms, secure workplaces, and accountability regarding violence against healthcare workers. These actions follow an event referred to as the "Satara suicide," which participating associations cited in their call for "justice for (the doctor)."

The planned statewide agitation, scheduled from November 7-13, will involve the closure of Outpatient Department (OPD) services in private clinics and hospitals across Maharashtra. Government hospital OPDs are specifically excluded from this boycott.

The associations involved emphasize the importance of ensuring the safety and dignity of doctors, stating that ongoing attacks on healthcare workers could negatively impact patient care and deter new professionals from the medical field.
