On Sunday, September 22, 2025, a 48-year-old man identified as Jithendran sustained injuries following an encounter with a wild elephant in Vithura, an area on the outskirts of Thiruvananthapuram. Police reports indicate that Mr. Jithendran, who was traveling on his two-wheeler, encountered the animal while it was crossing the road. He is currently receiving treatment at a local taluk hospital for multiple bone injuries, including several broken ribs.
In response to the incident, the Forest Department has dispatched an elephant squad with the aim of guiding the tusker deeper into the Agasthya Bio Sphere forests.
