Maruti Suzuki India Limited has become the first automobile manufacturer to transport vehicles to the Kashmir Valley using Indian Railways. The initial consignment, comprising over 100 vehicle models including the Brezza, Dzire, WagonR, and S-Presso, departed from the company’s recently inaugurated Manesar in-plant railway siding. Covering more than 850 kilometers, the train’s route to Anantnag included a crossing over the world’s highest railway arch bridge built over the Chenab river. Government officials highlighted this development as a significant enhancement to connectivity for the Jammu & Kashmir region, while Maruti Suzuki executives emphasized the strategic role of rail dispatches in their logistics strategy to better serve customers in the Kashmir Valley.
