A 22-year-old merchant navy cadet from Dehradun, Karandeep Singh Rana, was reported missing on September 20 from an oil tanker operating off the coast of Sri Lanka. The vessel was en route from Iraq to China. According to his father, Narendra Singh Rana, Karandeep had pursued a career in the Merchant Navy and was nearing promotion to Third Officer. Following his disappearance, his family has publicly appealed for urgent assistance, including contacting Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
