Met Office Issues Warnings for Snow and Ice Across UK Regions

The United Kingdom has experienced widespread wintry weather, with snowfall reported across several regions overnight and into Wednesday morning. The Met Office recorded up to 7cm of lying snow in areas such as Lake Vyrnwy, Powys, Wales, and noted snowfall in locations including London, Hertfordshire, and Northumberland. Coastal regions, particularly north Scotland and the east and west coasts of the UK, are anticipated to see continued wintry showers, while central inland areas are expected to be brighter and drier.

In response to these conditions, the Met Office has issued multiple yellow warnings for ice and snow, covering Northern Ireland, parts of Wales, northern and south-westerly England, and much of Scotland. Forecasts suggest that areas exposed to brisk northerly winds, including Northern Ireland, south-west Wales, south-west and north-east England, and northern Scotland, could experience snow accumulations of 2-5cm where showers are most frequent.
